I just thought I'd try to save people the time it takes to find this out the hard way.In the distant past I've based a tune around a vocal in 128, and realised at the very end that the tune is irrepairably flawed by the vocal's complete lack of detail, scale and frequency range, and worst of all that horrible mushy mp3 sound. If you want to make 'professional sounding' music, then dont use poor quality mp3 samples.
You cannot polish a turd, so dont waste your time trying. Mp3 compression can actually be useful at times, it does a great job of filtering out frequencies that aren't important (heuristics) for compression purposes, which makes it an interesting choice for filtering something to 'fit it in the mix'. Poor quality 128kb/s encoding might cause some nasty j.s. 'clicking' and heavy aliasing (when the person encoding has no clue what they're doing) but aliasing isn't always a bad thing either, it can be useful when you want something with 'texture' rather than 'sonic purity'.Doesn't mean I think that this acapella pack is a worthy download (since I haven't checked it) but I do agree with MiL0, one man's trash is another man's treasure in something as subjective as music.
