How To Program 68hc11 MicrocontrollerHow To Program 68hc11 Microcontroller

The EPROM+ programming system supportsthe entire Motorola 68HC11 family of microcontrollers.Several variations are shown in the photo. Support isprovided with an Asynchronous Communication Adapter;. TheASYNC adapter is a complete serial communicationssubsystem which snaps into the socket on the EPROM+programming unit. Using the ASYNC adapter, the EPROM+system connects to the 68HC11 processor via it's SerialCommunications Interface (SCI) pins.

Once connected, communication is established and a special controlprogram is uploaded into the internal RAM of theprocessor. With the control program in place, communications is established with the EPROM+ systemwhich provides the user with complete access to specificmemory areas (EPROM, EEPROM) or the entire 64K addressrange of the part ( including I/O).ABOUTTHE ASYNC ADAPTERThe Asynchronous Communication Adapter(#ACOM1 or #ACOM2) is a complete serial communicatonsubsystem. In addition to providing full duplexcommunication, it also provides an 8 MHZ clock source forthe processor plus control of the reset line to insure aproper start-up sequence. The TRANSMIT, RECEIVE, CLOCKand RESET pins are buffered for additional drive plus Vppis provided for programming the internal processor epromif available. The adapter also provides 5 volts andground which may power the processor or force the MODEpins to logic 0.

Direct connection to a board mountedprocessor may be accomplished with the optional. GENERAL USEThe sequence for connecting andcommunicating with the 68HC11 processor is extremelyeasy. First the required pins are attached to theprocessor (stand-alone or in-circuit). The processor isreset in boot strap mode.

This may be accomplished as anormal power-up sequence or automatically if attached tothe ASYNC adapter RESET pin. The special control programis uploaded from the EPROM+ to the 68HC11 using theDEVICE OPTIONS command. Once the program is uploaded, thesystem indicates that communication has been established. At this point all EPROM+ functions are available to reador program the 68HC11. The EPROM+ system allows access to anymemory area within the 68HC11 processor. This includesEEPROM, EEPROM and RAM.

Note that not all members of the68HC11 family contain all memory technologies. EXAMPLE:The 68HC811E2 contains 2K of EEPROM, 256 bytes of RAM andno EPROM. To make referencing the desired memory areaeasier, the EPROM+ software automatically maps thebeginning of the selected block to 0. The illustrationshows the EEPROM area of a 68HC711E9 which has beenselected and mapped to 0. Download seo powersuite full crack. Note that the EEPROM area, which normally exists between B600 and B7FF in the68HC711E9 memory map, now appears as a single blockexisting between 0 and 1FF (512 bytes) in the systembuffer.

The selected memory always appears as a singleblock beginning at 0 and ending at the last address ofthe memory area. This makes referencing the memory blockfast and easy when simple changes need to be made. TheEPROM+ software automatically selects EEPROM memory firstand then EPROM if no EEPROM is available.CHANGING THE MEMORY AREAYou may change the area of access from thedefault assuming that the processor with which you are workingcontains an additional memory type. The EPROM+ software allowsyou to choose between EEPROM, EPROM or the entire 64K addressrange of the processor. This allows you work directly with aspecific memory area as a single block or the entire processoraddress space. The area of access is changed in an option usingthe Z command. If you select the entire 64K address space, youwill have access to all processor memory areas as they appear inthe normal memory map.

This is a very powerful feature and iscovered in detail in the following section. The standard access provided for EEPROM/EPROM reading andprogramming are more than adequate for typical maintenance andservice applications. The software, however, has features for thetechnically advanced user who has interest in product developmentor testing of existing systems. For these users the followingfeatures are provided:UPLOAD (BOOTSTRAP) ANY PROGRAMINTO THE 68HC11This feature allows you to load any program intothe system buffer and upload it into the 68HC11 via bootstrapmode. The upload byte count may be fixed at 256 bytes orestablished by the user.ACCESS THE ENTIRE 64K ADDRESSRANGEThis feature allows you to access the entire 64Kaddress space of the processor. This includes all memory plus RAMand I/O.

68hc11

You may directly read and write I/O ports and processorRAM. Use this feature with care as you may also write into thearea which contains the EPROM+ control program. In the 64K accessmode all memory and I/O exist at their normal addresses withinthe processor address space.SELECT THE PROGRAMMING ALGORITHMUSED WITHIN THE 64K RANGEThis feature allows you to select the programmingalgorithm used by the EPROM+ software while accessing the 64Kaddress space. EXAMPLE: If you wish to programthe EEPROM in a 68HC11E9, you must choose the EEPROM algorithm. If you wish to write data to an output port you must choose theMEMORY WRITE algorithm. You therefore have the ability to selectthe proper algorithm to perform work in the memory area in whichyou have interest.TRANSFER CONTROL TO A USERPROGRAMThis feature is specifically intended for userswho are interested in product development, program testing oreducation.

The EPROM+ software allows you to transfer control toa program you have placed into the RAM, EEPROM or EPROM memory ofthe processor. You may place your program into the 68HC11 byfirst loading your program into the system buffer and then usingthe buffer editor 'WRITE' command or'PROGRAM' command. Your program may exist at anyexecutable location in the processor memory map. Once yourprogram exists in the 68HC11 memory, a special option allows youto specify that the EPROM+ software transfer control to aphysical address within the processor specified by you. Thiscauses your program to execute at the address you specified.DISPLAY A RETURNED BYTEAlthough you may transfer control to yourprogram, it is many times helpful to have some way for yourprogram to return information to you.

The EPROM+ software has afeature whereby your program may place a byte in ACCUMULATOR Aand jump to a subroutine (JSR) at a fixed address in the controlprogram. The subroutine at this address will then send the byteback to the EPROM+ system where it is displayed on the screen. This feature allows you to send data back to the EPROM+ from yourprogram thereby allowing you view information or status regardingyour programs execution.RETURNING CONTROL TO THE EPROM+If you choose, you may return control to theEPROM+ software from your user program. This is accomplished byperforming a JMP to another fixed address within the 68HC11control program. This will return control to you and again allowdirect access to the 64K processor address space.A MINI DEVELOPMENT SYSTEMWith the above mentioned software features youare provided with a set of tools which permit direct access tothe 68HC11 processors 64K address space. You may write programsand place them into the memory of the processor.

You may thenexecute the program and monitor results via the special EPROM+software features. After your program execution is complete, youmay return control back to the EPROM+.

These capabilities combineto form a complete software development package which is morethan adequate for fundamental system debug and testing.

How To Code A Microcontroller

Hi all,Sorry for late reply. I was given a 8-bit LED circut, Trigger sensor alarm circut and 6811 controller. My program is to make the LEDs run left to right(L-R) when the first sensor(SW1) is trigger. And when trigger the second sensor(SW2) it will off the LEDs.Below is the program i'd wrote so far. What is the instruction if i want to write?1. How to off the LED when SW2 is trigger?2.
